Umana Bali, Bali, INDONESIA
A Luxurious Getaway That's Eco-Friendly
On an island where resorts are clustered in major tourist centers like Seminyak, Nusa Dua, and Jimbaran, LXR’s first resort in Southeast Asia is refreshingly off the beaten path in the village of Ungasan, Bali’s southernmost area on the Bukit Peninsula, is home to dramatic cliffs that soar above some of the island’s most beautiful beaches.
Skirting the edge of a cliff above Bali’s southernmost point sits the newest resort: 72-villa Umana Bali, an especially secluded oasis, set above the bustling Melasti beach and far off the main road, ensconced in abundant native greenery.
Cloaked in thick, landscaped vegetation and walled on three sides, villas feel secluded and quiet—enough to hear the waves from the oceanfront terrace some 200 feet above the cliffs. Each of Umana’s one-, two- and three-room villas encircle their own massive infinity pools, with access directly from the primary bedroom (and a secret path to a tropical outdoor shower). At 3,100-square feet, even the one-bedroom villa would have been roomy enough for five. The living room opens out to a garden and terrace with lounge chairs shaded under a Balinese bale (an open-aired structure with a pitched roof), a hot tub, and a large infinity pool. There is nothing more refreshing than splash into the pool which only a step from your bedroom in the morning!
Among the five dining outlets, the Mediterranean-inspired Oliverra occupies the most dramatic setting, with a clifftop perch and giant windows and a veranda for taking in the ocean views. During the day, Pad Pool Bar is a low-key spot for lunch or afternoon cocktails. (Many are infused with local ingredients, like the espresso martini, made with Kintamani, a Balinese single origin specialty coffee.) Inside the lobby, Mer Lounge is a pocket-sized cafe and bar, where you can order a lemongrass iced tea, a Balinese craft beer, or a bottle of wine from their 200-label cellar, which you can pop open back to your villa. Commune is the all-day restaurant and home to the breakfast buffet of your dreams. Finally, Uma Beach House is a place where laid-back vibes meet Bali’s rich traditions. Think Miami’s breezy charm blended with the heart and soul of Bali. Whether you’re here to soak in the ocean views, celebrate with friends, or just take a moment for yourself, Uma Beach House is all about making you feel at home.
Resort’s Lohma Spa, where innovation meets timeless tradition. Nestled on the serene clifftop of Southern Bali, their spa is a modern interpretation of the island’s rich creative and cultural heritage.
Resort put their effort to balance luxury/comfort/convenience and environment conscience by sourcing more than 80% of their own hydroponic herb and vegetable garden. Dining outlets stock several wines from Balinese winemaker Hatten. There’s no plastic in bathroom amenities, rather bath products are refilled, toiletries are wrapped in vanity kits made from recycled banana leaf paper, and even the disposable sandals are woven from pandan fibers!

Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam, NETHERLANDS
Maybe most people didn’t know, many international museums only exhibited very small part of their collections to public on rotation base, this way usually didn’t bother much to the local residents, but for oversea visitors, they much prefer have the chance to view it all during their limited time of staying.
Thanks to Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen, a museum where art lovers can explore its FULL (total 151,000 objects which included painting, statue, prints, drawings, furniture, photographs, video…) collections from medieval Europe to modern age at all time. That’s why they humbly call themselves ‘Depot’ instead of ‘Museum’!
Other than art appreciation, Depot Boijmans also like to share knowledge to those interested about art conservation & restoration process, packaging and transporting art works.
Almost 100 percent of the museum is fully accessible to public, and their rooftop forest is a place where you shouldn’t miss, it offers panoramic view of the city of Rotterdam. If you have spare time to spend, stop by at their rooftop restaurant Renilde for a drink or grab a bite to relax and appreciated the surrounding green and the sky.
At my very own opinion, this 39.5-meter-high mirrored ovoid shaped building give me the impression of the look of baby Groot at the movie ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ only with a sci-fi helmet, what said you!
